Yesterday, Thursday 19 July, President Leonel Fernandez inaugurated five schools in Greater Santo Domingo, and a sports complex and a housing development in Sabana Perdida, public projects worth RD$294 million.
The 108-apartment housing project is the INVI Villa Progreso-Sabana Perdida, at a cost of RD$108 million, with a loan from the Latin American development bank, the Corporacion Andina de Fomento. Located in Pedro Brand, the sports complex, was built by the Supervisory Office of Public Works of the President at a cost of RD$7 million. The five public schools were built at a cost of RD$179 million and will benefit 3,115 students. They are Maria Montessori (Pedro Brand), Francisco Alberto Caamano Deno (Los Alcarrizos), Los Trinitarios (Villa Mella, Escuela Nacional de Artes y Oficios and Centro Manolo Tavares Justo (Villas Agricolas).
Fernandez yesterday also attended the inaugural of the renovation of the Puerto Plata offices of the Customs Department (DGA).
President Fernandez has said he will continue inaugurating projects around the country until August 15.
