Yesterday, Thursday 19 July, the National Consumer Protection Institute (Pro Consumidor) issued a warning based on information from international pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, saying that fake Winasorb tablets were being sold in the country.
The company says that it has detected an unknown quantity of fake Winasorb cold and flu tablets, and Pro Consumidor is advising the public to check the tablets carefully including the packaging.
GlaxoSmithKline said that the fake tablets have less Acetaminophen than they should have and more Clorpheniramine, and do not have the active ingredients of Phenylephrine or Dextromethorphan.
Pro Consumidor made the announcement as this product is used extensively in the country and can be sold without a prescription.
