President elect Danilo Medina denied having a commitment to provide more jobs for PRSC politicians in government. The PRSC has been an ally of the PLD since the late President Joaquin Balaguer backed the candidacy of Leonel Fernandez of the PLD versus that of Jose Francisco Pena Gomez of the PRD in 1996. He said that when a pact was reached with the party, nothing in particular was committed. "The backing of the PRSC was notable, a great contribution and we value it in its just measure," he said, when asked if PRSC campaigners would be included in his cabinet.
Medina made the statements after a meeting of the Political Committee of the PLD carried out in Juan Dolio. Medina favors that PLD politicians Reinaldo Pared Perez and Abel Martinez respectively continue at the presidency of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
Medina also said he would adhere to the law if the bill that establishes limits to salaries in government is passed prior to his taking office on 16 August.
