Over the weekend, the Police arrested in San Francisco de Macoris a lead suspect in a Thursday, 19 July robbery by seven at the Asociacion Mocana de Ahorros y Prestamos branch located in Juan Lopez, El Caribe reports. Of these, 48-year old Arcadio Mercado Genao, also known as Luis Alberto Pena Hernandez (El Chino), was arrested at his home in Madeja neighborhood. The Police confiscated a Mitsubishi L200 pickup, said to have been used in the robbery, and an anti-bullet vest and tear gas. The pick-up had been stolen from Nathanael Urena Reynoso on 8 June in Navarete. The men are accused of stealing more than RD$1 million from the bank. The robbers entered the bank as clients to then announce the robbery. Seven armed men are held responsible for the robbery. The men were wearing anti-bullet vests.
