A passing rainstorm made competing more trying for the young sailors participating in the 2012 IODA World Optimist Championship in Boca Chica last week. But by Sunday weather had improved considerably bringing blue skies and strong sun to the competition. Singapore, United States and Holland won the team trophies in the 52-country event. Italy will host the event in 2013, and Argentina in 2014. The individual competitions end on Wednesday at the Santo Domingo Yacht Club installations.
