Ruddy Gonzalez was voted today by 41 of 78 PRD legislators, to repeat as spokesman for the PRD. This was enough to make quorum for the decision. Gonzalez had the backing of president of the party, Miguel Vargas Maldonado. Gonzalez was "proclaimed" to be the spokesman, despite party by laws establishes a vote need to be called, as reported in Hoy. Others are deputy spokesman Jose Jaquez and secretary Ana Miledys Cuevas.

The Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) is at present experiences a period of internal division. Party legislators had also been invited to invitations with the same purpose circulating: one is from party president Miguel Vargas Maldonado and the other from the secretary general Orlando Jorge Mera.

Vargas convened the deputies to meet at the party's National House and Jorge Mera invited the deputies to meet in the PRD meeting room at the National Congress. For the Mejia side, the candidate is Eugenio Cedeno. 33 deputies attended the call by Orlando Jorge Mera.
