View Full Version : President Fernandez continues his inauguration spree in Santiago

Yesterday, Tuesday 24 July, President Leonel Fernandez was in Santiago to inaugurate public works built at an announced cost of RD$932 million. These were the 350-meters long bridge over the North Yaque River that links the communities of Baitoa and Sabana Iglesia built by the Ministry of Public Works at a cost RD$319 million. Minister of Public Works Victor Diaz Rua said that the bridge will benefit around one million who live in the area.

Also the Catholic Church-backed Fraternidad retirement home built by the Presidency Supervisory Office of Public Works (OISOE) at a cost of RD$15 million in San Jose de las Matas.

The President was at the ceremony marking the completion of the Invi-Villa Progreso La Barranquita housing project. 88 apartments were built at a cost of RD$183 million.

Minister of Education Josefina Pimentel accompanied the President at the inauguration of 14 public schools in Santiago and northwestern provinces. These were the Delio Reyes (Santiago); El Aguacate, Jose Antonio Salcedo, Arroyo La Jagua, La Luisa, El Capacito and Villa Anacaona (Dajabon); Guillermo Acevedo, Alfonso Dominguez, Los Mangos and Jose Castellanos (Puerto Plata); El Rodeo (Valverde) and Zoilo Rodriguez (Santiago Rodriguez).

The President was present at the formal inauguration of the labor risk administration building for the province of Santiago, built at a cost of RD$65 million.
