Chef Federico Haza has come from Peru for the 4th Festival of Peruvian Cuisine at Santo Domingo's Melia Hotel. The festival iopen for lunch and dinner from 25 July through 5 August 2012. Gastronomy is one of the main attractions in Peru, and it is estimated that the sector makes up more than 11% of the country's Gross Domestic Product. Peruvian cuisine combines the tastes of four continents (America, Europe, Asia and Africa), and uses fruits and vegetables only available in Peru. The Economist magazine listed Peruvian cuisine among the 12 most valuable in the world and Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa describes Peruvian gastronomy as "the new tourist magnet."
