President Leonel Fernandez met yesterday with the Minister of Industry and Commerce in order to mediate the boycott called by the propane gas distributors. Minister Manuel Garcia Arevalo called for a meeting next Tuesday between the sectors involved in the sale of LPG and asked that the filling stations continue to offer their services to not affect consumers. Despite the call to suspend propane sales, El Caribe reported that sales of LPG were normal throughout Santo Domingo yesterday afternoon. Their reporters traveled throughout East Santo Domingo and found all of the stations open and doing business.

The National Association of Gas Distributors seeks sales be by volume, while the government consumer protection agency, ProConsumidor says the propane should be sold by weight.
