The president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Miguel Vargas Maldonado reminded everyone yesterday that only the party has the authority to approve or not the 10 proposals presented by the mediating commission. He denied to the Diario Libre reporters that he had approved the initiatives by PRD leaders that sought alternatives in order to achieve party unity as they said last night. In spite of this Vargas Maldonado confirmed that he met with the commission that is headed by Eligio Jaquez, Meney Cabrera, William Jana and Peggy Cabral. He made it clear that during the meeting they heard the 10 proposals and agreed to have another meeting soon. He reiterated that he is open to "compromise, based on mutual respect and the maintenance of PRD institutionalism."
