The Ministry of Public Works inaugurated yesterday, 26 July the repaving of the 21 km Cruz del Isleno-Nisibon road from Higuey to Miches and a bridge over the Maimon River in La Altagracia province yesterday. The works were built at an announced cost of RD$377 million and benefit more than 364,000 inhabitants from the surrounding areas.
The inauguration team was headed up by President Leonel Fernandez.
Fernandez was in Higuey, capital of La Altragracia province in the East, to inaugurate a museum that showcases historical valuable donations made to Our Lady of La Altagracia. The museum is located on the premises of the Basilica in Higuey and was built at a cost of RD$200 million, a donation of the Banco Popular Dominicano.
Next Fernandez was in La Romana where he inaugurated the artisans' square and in San Pedro de Macoris for the formal dedication of a housing complex.
During the day, Fernandez assured that his successor, Danilo Medina would have his absolute support during his term of office that starts on 16 August 16 and said that he was sure he would consolidate democracy and promote economic growth and the progress of the Dominican Republic.
