View Full Version : Judiciary to choose missing Supreme Court judge

President Leonel Fernandez convened the National Council of the Judiciary (CNM) to meet on Friday, 3 August to choose the missing Supreme Court of Justice judge. The judge will replace Jorge Subero Isa, the former president of the Supreme Court of Justice, who did not accept that he was not appointed to continue to preside the court. Subero lasted 14 years at the head of the Supreme Court of Justice.

The members of the CNM are: president of the Senate Reinaldo Pared Perez, president of the Chamber of Deputies Abel Martinez; senator Felix Vasquez for the PRSC; deputy Hugo Nunez for the PRD; Attorney General Radhames Jimenez Pena; the president of the Supreme Court of Justice Mariano German; and Supreme Court judge Fran Soto.

The National Council of the Judiciary is in charge of choosing the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice, the Constitutional Court and the Superior Electoral Court.

There are 16 judges in the Supreme Court of Justice, and the 2010 Constitution establishes there will be 17 judges.

The judges of the Supreme Court of Justice are: presiding judge Mariano German, Julio Cesar Castanos Guzman, Miriam German, Ramon Herrera Carbuccia, Esther Agelan, Hiroito Reyes, Fran Soto, Alejandro Moscoso, Sara Henriquez, Jose Alberto Cruceta, Robert Placencia, Edgar Hernandez, Marta Olga Garcia, Victor Jose Castellanos, Dulce Rodriguez de Goris and Francisco Jerez Mena.
