Students at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) said yesterday, Tuesday 31 July, that they would continue a vigil until it was agreed that they did not have to pay the new charges for academic credits.
The students, who had called a meeting at UASD, met with resistance from the authorities who wanted to stop them entering the university campus.
Rafael Cabrera, a student spokesman, said they would continue to campaign about the increase in cost of credits and the expulsion of eight students.
They said that their next move would be to march to the Presidential Palace although no date had been agreed.
