View Full Version : Twenty injured by minibus with sleeping driver

Twenty members of the Civil Aviation's Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC), 15 men and five women, were injured yesterday, Tuesday, 31 July when a Mitsubishi minibus driven by 77-year old Rene Aquiles Rivera Gomez crashed into them.

The injured are said to be in a satisfactory condition at the Ramon De Lara Air Force Hospital.

Rivera Gomez said that he suffered from high blood pressure and the pill he took for this made him sleepy, which was why he was asleep at the wheel.

CESAC said that the group of young people had finished lunch and were lined up alongside their office at the roadway at the Las Americas International Airport waiting to start training again for their graduation ceremony parade.

The injured were named as Miguel Contreras Ramirez, Alberto Corporan Pinales, Rafael Antonio Cruz Ortiz, Cesar Antonio de Dios Nova, Cristian De la Cruz Fabian, Anthony De la Cruz Valerio, Danireivi De la Cruz D'Oleo, Jose De Leon Manzueta, Jairon De Leon Martinez, Carlos De Leon Mora, Confesor De Los Santos Quezada, Danelfi Delgado Ruiz, Wilkin Diaz Cespedes, Robin Done Garcia, Henry Fernandez, Esperanza Fernandez Maldonado, Atenas Massiel Cuevas Feliz, Vianela De la Cruz Adames, Ana Paola de la Cruz Martinez and Gardenia Delgado Ruiz.
