Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, 1 August, President-elect Danilo Medina said that he will fulfill all of his campaign promises, but at a slower pace than he originally intended. He said that he would announce his plans for fulfilling his program on 16 August, but he forewarned "...that perhaps I cannot do it at the speed that I wanted because of the conditions..." Medina skirted any concrete comments on the electricity situation, saying that he would work it out on 16 August or later, as quoted in El Nuevo Diario. President-elect Medina spoke upon receiving resolutions from the National Assembly (both houses of Congress) that declare him President-elect.
