News reports are that the season's fifth Tropical Depression has formed out over the Atlantic. This time the Lesser Antilles are under an alert and the National Hurricane Center in Miami says that there are sustained winds of 55kph and the center is located at 12.2 North and 49 West, about 1,300 kilometers to the east of the Antilles. Most of the smaller islands in the eastern part of the Caribbean are under a Tropical Storm Watch. The tropical depression is moving west-northwestwards at 30kph and the forecast is for a more westerly movement, crossing the Lesser Antilles on Friday. The storm is expected to pass south of the Dominican Republic bringing high surf and rains.
