Continuing his series of inaugurations prior to leaving office on 16 August, President Leonel Fernandez led the official christening of the new administrative building of the Centro de Formacion Integral Juventud y Familia (CEFIJUFA), a training center run by the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo. The facility also includes a cafeteria and computer hall. The government reports that it was built by the Supervisory Office of Public Works of the Presidency (OISOE) at a cost of RD$25 million to taxpayers.
While in La Vega province, President Fernandez also inaugurated a model jail in Sabaneta, a RD$278 million investment. He inaugurated a 15-building housing complex each with four floors and eight 85 square meter apartments in El Higuero. He also inaugurated a Biotechnical In Vitro Laboratory with capacity to produce 10 million seedlings that will be administered by the Ministry of Agriculture, built at a cost of RD$376 million. Over the weekend, 10 schools built in La Vega were inaugurated, which were built at a cost of RD$30 million.
