The President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff has confirmed she will be attending President Danilo Medina's inauguration on 16 August. Earlier this year, Medina visited her in Brazil when campaigning for President and after winning the election. Medina aide Ruben Bichara said the news had been received by phone and they are awaiting formal confirmation via the Ministry of Foreign Relations this week.
This will be the first time a Brazilian head of state visits the Dominican Republic.
Other Latin American Presidents who have confirmed they will be attending the Presidential inaugural ceremony on 16 August are Porfirio Lobo of Honduras, Michel Martelly of Haiti, Mauricio Funes of El Salvador, Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia and Ricardo Martinelli of Panama.
