Due to the passing of Tropical Storm Ernesto that brought heavy rains to Santo Domingo on Saturday, 4 August, organizers announced the postponement of the Merengue & Caribbean Beats Festival for the following weekend. The festival is sponsored by Brugal rum. Performers who had been booked for live shows include Milka la Mas Dura, Krisspy, Sexappeal, Bonye, El Chaval de la Bachata, Vakero, Fernando Villalona, Crazy & Carlitos (Teke Teke), Alex Matos, Melymel, Pochy Familia, Rafely, Kinito Mendez, Ramon Orlando and Vicente Garcia.
