Officials, intellectuals, journalists, relatives and friends all stressed the contributions of the outstanding writer and journalist Francisco Comarazamy, who passed away on Sunday, 5 August at the age of 103. His remains are being mourned at the Blandino Funeral Home on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, in Santo Domingo, and the burial is expected to take place at the Cristo Redentor Cemetery.

Comarazamy is survived by his four sons, Daniel, Francisco, Ricardo and Roosevelt, who is a well-known sports journalist and who was in London yesterday covering the events of the Olympic Games. For this reason the burial will take place after he returns to the country. Daniel, one of the sons, exalted the great legacy left by his father, saying that up until the last days of his life "it was marvelous to be at his side." He recalled that he was lucky enough to be able to say goodbye to his father because when he passed away he touched his chest and closed his eyes.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture, Jose Rafael Lantigua, historian Juan Daniel Balcacer and the president of the Dominican College of Journalists, Aurelio Henriquez, all stressed the intellectual contributions made by the journalist. Henriquez said that Comarazamy was a great example to follow for several generations of reporters.
