The Ministry of Labor has confirmed that Thursday, 16 August, Restoration Day, will be a public holiday in the Dominican Republic.
This is the last day of government for President Leonel Fernandez, who will be present at the National Assembly for the transfer of power and swearing in of Danilo Medina as President and Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez as Vice President.
Many will be taking off the long weekend, but the Ministry has said that Friday, 17 August is officially a working day.
The next official holiday is Mercedes Day, celebrated on Monday, 24 September.
