Looks like Roberto Salcedo's zoo is a "no go." The city government of Santo Domingo has denied that a zoo will be reinstalled in the grounds of the National Conservatory Park. Diario Libre reports today, Wednesday 8 August that the earlier release on the matter was but "confusion."
Diario Libre reports that on 26 July mayor Roberto Salcedo had said: "We are preparing the area for a iguanarium... We are working on the monkey area, we are going to have a bird cage and other species from the National Zoo will be brought here...."
Diario Libre published the news and criticized the city government for spending money on returning the zoo to its old location.
Salcedo is well known for the construction of the so-called Zooberto park, at the intersection between Los Proceres and J F Kennedy avenues.
