Look for the first issue of 'La lupa sin trabas' (The Magnifying Glass without Obstacles) on newsstands as of Tuesday, 14 August. The first issue of the magazine focuses on the new Danilo Medina government and its promises to not be complacent about corruption in government.
Economist and historian Bernardo Vega will be the editor of the new journal. Upon announcing the journal, he said that now, in his retirement years, he had the challenge of chronicling the past or making a contribution to the future and has chosen the latter. Vega served as the editor of El Caribe at a time when the newspaper was known for its well-researched investigative economic reports.
Fernando Hasbun, now at Noticias SIN, inspired the idea. He says he is working on launching an all-news TV channel, with 24 hours of news and commentaries.
La lupa sin trabas will be published biweekly. The magazine will get its official launch next Tuesday 14 August with an event at the Hotel Embajador.
