A bus from the Las Americas Free Zone with 70 passengers lost control and crashed into a tollbooth island at the Toll Plaza on the Las Americans Freeway yesterday, Wednesday 8 August. The bus, driven by Carlos Manuel Paula, came from the Gildam Company in the free zone. Some 30 people were injured as the brakes failed and, according to the driver, the steering jammed. Most of the injured were taken to the Dario Contreras Hospital for treatment, and others were taken to private medical centers nearby.
