President Leonel Fernandez led the formal inauguration of the RD$1 billion renovation works at Santo Domingo's Las Americas International Airport yesterday, Thursday 9 August. The remodeled installations, on the theme of the country's wildlife, were designed by Frank Ortega & Asociados and JMK Arquitectos, and interior decorator Patricia Reid Baquero.
The inaugural event was also attended by Minister of Public Works Victor Diaz Rua. Juan Carlos Torres, president of the Aerodom board and director general Monika Infante Henriquez represented the private airport concessionaire.
The works included the installation of new equipment, image change of the airport facade, and renovations to the passenger airline check-in area. The immigration hall and shops and customs areas were also remodeled.
