The Sunday 12 August edition of Listin Diario published features on First Lady Margarita Cedeno, soon to be Vice President of the Republic, and Candy Montilla, soon to take over the role of First Lady.
During her eight years as First Lady, Cedeno has been more criticized than praised for her fashion preferences. The newspaper concludes that a permanent feature of First Lady Margarita Cedeno's style choices is her love of bright colors. She originally made a local fashion statement for her love of hats. Fashion analyst Cherny Reyes said that Cedeno has rarely worn same clothes more than once at public events. "I sometimes think she tries too hard and can look too structured and not natural," she comments.
With a more formal job responsibilities ahead, Reyes advises the Vice President-elect to change her hairstyle and choose more conservative colors.
Meanwhile, Listin Diario fashion commentator Joselo Franjul said that Candy Montilla's present style was appropriate for a First Lady and that she has the figure to look good in tailored attire. He recommends she try a more daring hairstyle. Stylist Keyther Estevez told Listin Diario: "In this country we have not yet had a first lady who is an example to follow in fashion and I am sure that if Montilla follows professional advice she could be the best dressed first lady in recent years. She is a diamond in the rough who can be polished perfectly and who we all want to see shine."
