A brief note in Diario Libre highlights Leonel Fernandez's commitment to a long-term plan for the PLD. Speaking last night, Monday 13 August, during the tribute given to him by the PLD Political Committee, Fernandez said that he hopes that the PLD will continue in power for 20 more years, after Danilo Medina's administration ends in 2016.
He declared he would work for the ruling party organization to become an engine for turning out presidents, legislators, mayors and city council members. He expressed confidence that Medina would continue with his management of the government and strengthen democracy.
