President Leonel Fernandez was at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center yesterday, Tuesday 14 August where he formally inaugurated the country's Museum of Dominican Sports, a new Sports Hall of Fame and Fencing Pavilion, built by the Supervisory Office of Public Works of the Presidency (OISOE). During the inauguration of the Hall of Fame, President Fernandez and Minister of Sports Felipe Payano received awards from Luis Scheker Ortiz, president of the institution. Former basketball stars Aldo Leschorn, Antonio (Chicho) Sibilio and Victor Chacon, baseball legend Cesar Geronimo, table tennis champion Mario Alvarez Soto and weightlifting great Amaury Cordero also attended the ceremony.
