Last night, Thursday 16 August, more than 5,000 people attended a cocktail reception hosted by the President and Vice President of the Republic, Danilo Medina and Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez. The event, which was held in the Presidential Palace was attended by special international guests, diplomats and local supporters.
The President addressed his guests from one of the balconies in the Cariatides Hall, saying that he was aware of the level of support he had received during the campaign as he thanked all who had come to the event from across the country.
He then mingled with his guests, accompanied at all times by his wife, First Lady Candida Montilla.
