Five councilors were injured in Nagua in the middle of a brawl when they were electing the new authorities of the council chamber.
Jose Yapur, Jacqueline Pena, Frank de la Cruz and others were injured with bottles, seats and punches.
In Monte Cristi, persons unknown threw a tear bomb into the town hall, which stopped the election of a new board of councilors for the period 2012-2013.
A fight started when a PRD councilor, Raul Tul proposed a fellow councilor from the Alternative Democratic Movement Party (Moda), Rudi Garcia, as the new president of the team of councilors, which is currently headed by Zeneida Sigoyen and has eight members.
A police patrol arrested a man named as Jimmy Silvestre, 32, for questioning in connection with the incident.
