President Danilo Medina issued new decrees on Friday, 17 August appointing his new government officials.

Economic team:

Hector Valdez Albizu was confirmed as governor of the Central Bank.

Guarocuya Feliz was appointed director of the Department of Taxes (DGII). He had been the Superintendent of Stocks. He replaces Juan Hernandez who directed the important department throughout the 12 years of the Fernandez administrations.

Rafael Camilo was appointed Superintendent of Banks. He was the general director of Customs Department.

Fernando Fernandez was appointed general director of the Customs Department.

Alberto Perdomo was appointed National Treasurer.

Euclides Gutierrez was confirmed as Superintendent of Insurance.

Jean Alain Rodriguez was appointed director of the Center for Export and Investments (CEI-RD). Carlos Pared Vidal was appointed deputy director CEI-RD.

Mayra Jimenez was appointed director of the National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Business (PROMIPYMES).

Ruben Jimenez Bichara was appointed executive vice president of the Public Electricity Corporation, replacing Celso Marranzini. He is a former director of EdeSur. Julio Cesar Correa was appointed administrator of EdeNorte, Luis Ernesto de Leon will manage EdeEste, and Hipolito Nunez will manage EdeSur.

Carlos Amarante Baret was appointed president of the board of INDOTEL. He is a former Immigration Department director.

Press directors

Ramon Tejada Holguin is the new director of Information, Analysis and Strategic Planning.

Roberto Rodriguez Marchena is the new director of the Presidency press office presidencia.gov.do and Government Information Center (cig.gov.do)

Other appointments:

Ramon Rodriguez will head the state subsidized cafeteria program (Comedores Economicos).

Manuel Rivas will head the Metropolitan Bus Service Office (OMSA).

Elena Fernandez will stay on as director of the Program for Essential Pharmaceuticals (Promese).

Modesto Guzman was confirmed as director of the Dominican Postal Institute.

Antonio Lopez will be director general Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA)

Alma Fernandez is confirmed at the National Housing Institute (INVI).

Fernando Rosa will be president of the Capital Fund for Reformed State Enterprises (Fonper).

Antonio Vargas is the new National Authorizing Officer for European Development Funds.

Angel Estevez is administrator of the Agriculture Bank

Humberto Salazar was appointed to direct the Executive Commission for the Reform of the Health Sector (CERSS)

Gloria Ceballos was confirmed as director of the National Meteorological Office, ONAMET.

Erasmo (Nini) Cafaro was confirmed as director of the National Theater.

Miguel Pimentel Karet was appointed director of the Supervisory Office of Public Works of the Presidency (OISOE).

Miguel Bejaran was appointed to direct the Border Development Department (Direccion General de Desarrollo Fronterizo).

Victor Terrero is the new director of the National AIDS Council.

Alejandro Herrera was confirmed as director of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC).

Iris Guaba was appointed director of the Passport Department.

Pedro Luis Castellanos was appointed director of the Department of Special Programs of the Presidency, a new department. Medina also appointed Cesar Prieto to coordinate the Presidency Social Plan.

Other appointments include LettyVasquez as president of the Presidential Commission for Barrio Support.

Pedro Fabelo was appointed advisor to the Executive Branch on porcine matters.

Apolinar Urena is the advisor on poultry matters.

Carlos Seguros Foster is the new advisor to the Executive Branch on agricultural matters.

Felix Jimenez will chair the board of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa). Jimenez is a former Minister of Tourism in a Fernandez administration.

Water sector:

Alberto Holguin is named director of INAPA

Olgo Fernandez is the director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources. Alejandro Montas, director of the Santo Domingo Water & Sewage Corporation (CAASD).

Silvio Duran will direct the Santiago Water & Sewage Corporation (CORASAAN).

Rafael Martinez will direct the Moca Water & Sewage Corporation (CORAAMOCA).
