As tropical storm Isaac approaches, the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) has issued a hurricane warning from Saona Island to Pedernales along the south coast, and a tropical storm warning from Saona Island to the Bay of Manzanillo in the north.
Isaac is currently located 445 kilometers to the east of Guadeloupe and is moving westwards at 30kph with winds of 75kph.
According to the latest data, tomorrow afternoon, Thursday 23 August, will be cloudy as a result of tropical storm Isaac and storms and winds will increase across the whole country, continuing through Friday and Saturday.
Emergency Operations Center Director General Juan Manuel Mendez has issued a green alert for the whole country and is advising the public to listen to the official bulletins.
In addition, there is a low-pressure area some 1,040 kilometers west/south west of Cape Verde that has a high probability of becoming a tropical storm in the next 48 hours.
