The Specialized Fuel Control Corps (Ceccom), a division of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, halted nine tank trucks carrying more than 90,000 gallons of fuel that entered the country as contraband on Tuesday 21 August. The tank trucks were intercepted at the Haina Oriental port while they were getting ready to transport the fuel, and were taken to Ceccom headquarters where they were placed under investigation. The Minister of Industry and Commerce immediately warned that his ministry would continue to act firmly in the persecution of the movement of petroleum derivatives.

The Director of Communications at the Ministry said that the tank trucks seized by Ceccom had the permits for withdrawing the oily bilge water from the ship STX Ace 11, but they received information that the trucks were going to transport contraband fuel.
