Yesterday, Thursday 23 August, Candida Montilla de Medina took over the First Lady's Office, and declared that her work would concentrate on women, children and families, by supporting several state organizations.
She said that since the election campaign, she has promised to create a space for combining government and state support for the benefit of the country, stating: "now is the time to turn words into action."
Although she did not mention any specific immediate actions, she said she would be holding a press conference soon, to outline her strategy and concrete proposals.
Several leading women PLD members, including Education Minister Josefina Pimentel, Higher Education Minister Ligia Amada Melo, Women's Minister Alejandrina German and Senator Cristina Lizardo attended the event.
