President Danilo Medina is sending five mobile kitchens to Haiti to provide meals for families affected by Tropical Storm Isaac. Food supplies will also be provided for Dominican families in the southwest of the Dominican Republic, the area worst affected by the storm.
Monchy Rodriguez, the head of the Subsidized Cafeteria Program announced that President Medina had authorized 7,500 hot meals a day for the needy in Haiti. In response, the First Lady of Haiti, Sophia Martelly expressed her appreciation for the gesture by the Dominican government, saying that her people were deeply grateful.
