Public Works orders pedestrian bridge

In response to a story that appeared in El Caribe on Monday 27 August, describing how children in Cumayasa were forced to use ropes and improvised ladders to reach their primary school, the Ministry of Public Works has started work to coordinate the construction of a pedestrian overpass. Public Works Minister Gonzalo Castillo instructed a civil engineer to begin the project and provide a permanent solution to the situation that is putting lives at risk in this tiny community in the province of La Romana.
