Proindustria wants small business parks in POP and SFM

The Center for Development and Industrial Competitiveness (ProIndustria) is speeding up the process to install "Pymes Parks" - or industrial free zones for small and medium companies - in Puerto Plata and San Francisco de Macoris. The agency is working through local business leaders. According to El Nuevo Diario, ProIndustria director Alexandra Izquierdo says that this falls within the framework of Danilo Medina's plans for developing different uses for the nation's free zones that are not totally occupied. The idea of clusters of micro-, small- and medium companies setting up in the free zones will be promoted by ProIndustria all over the country as a way of pushing for an export oriented use of "idle" areas of the free zones.
