The Appeals Court of the National District (DN) has confirmed the sentences of five members of a group of suspected hitmen linked to Puerto Rican drug trafficker Jose David Figueroa Agosto. Thirty-year sentences, the maximum under Dominican Penal Law, were given to Jose Anibal Hidalgo Garcia (Molmo), Jose Miguel Rodriguez Almonte and Winston Antonio Rodriguez Tavarez (Fire). A 20-year sentence was handed down for Gian Enrique Rojas Matos (Yan) and Ricardo Perez Mateo (Maceta) was sentenced to 15 years. Two others, Wilhen Ortiz de los Santos (Richard and/or Bololo) and Diomedes Moya Duran heard the court revoke their release as dictated by a lower court. Both men were sentenced to serve 10 years terms in Puerto Plata and Santiago correctional facilities. The group was convicted of killing Omar Antigua Polanco, one of Figueroa Agosto's closest associates, Ruben Soto Hayat, the owner of the La Francesa Bakery, Lt. Colonel Gonzalez Gonzalez and others associated with the Puerto Rican drug trafficker.
