The Institutionalism and Justice Foundation (Finjus) said yesterday, Tuesday 4 September that they expect President Danilo Medina to require government employees who were confirmed in their posts to deposit their own sworn statement of assets as well as the newly sworn-in office holders. Hoy newspaper says that the executive vice president of the foundation, Servio Tulio Castanos Guzman, said that by adopting this measure, the Medina administration would be sending another favorable signal to the sectors that are monitoring his management of this country. Law 82-70 of 16 December 1979 calls for each public servant to prepare a sworn statement of assets within the first 30 days of being appointed and after ceasing in their positions. Another decree, 287-06, allows them to do this online.
