The Police have announced the arrest of five foreigners and one in the United States for telemarketing fraud. The arrested are Canadians Lana Fishbein Stelman, 46,
Warren Stelman, 53, Peter Gruman, 55, Janice Pemberton, 52, and US citizen Randy Scott Ortzman, 51, and Israeli citizen Avraham Itzham Itzhak Fried, 54. One was arrested at Miami International Airport and the rest in the DR. They were taken to Najayo jail. The Police said the scammers, who face extradition to the United States, used to call their victims from the Dominican Republic offering vacation deals. The arrest was part of a joint operation between the United States FBI, the OCN-Interpol Santo Domingo, the Central Department of Crime Intelligence (Dintel) and the Attorney General Office of the Republic.
