120 kilos cocaine confiscated in Samana

The Navy and the National Drug Control Department (DNCD) have seized 120 kilos of cocaine in a speedboat at the Playa de Los Pescadores in Samana. US citizen Robert Bruce Adams and Dominicans Carlos Lopez and Juan Tirso Bisono Hirardo were arrested and sent to the judiciary. DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron said that the drugs were found in the boat Chubasco that had left from Boca Chica and was intercepted by Navy officers. The drugs, reported to have come from South America, were en route to Gran Inagua island in the Bahamas. The confiscation followed a joint operation with agents from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, as part of Safe Coasts Operation with the US Coast Guard based in Puerto Rico. On Tuesday 4 September, the DNCD-DEA reported the confiscation of a cocaine shipment of more than 1,500 kilograms south of Saona Island.
