The District Attorney for the National District, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, posted on her Twitter account @YeniBerenice yesterday, Tuesday 11 September that most robberies in her jurisdiction occur between 7am and noon. She said that 37% of all robberies take place during those hours. An additional timeframe, between 7pm and midnight accounts for 33% of the robberies and the afternoon hours (siesta time) - account for only 18% of crimes.
As reported in El Caribe, Reynoso added that the public's complaints include crimes of robbery, abuse of trust, cheating and other trickery involving money as well as outright thievery.
She called on the public to check with the Department of Taxes (DGII) and the National Police before finalizing the purchase of a vehicle. She also warned that "if you sell a vehicle and do not carry transfer the title, you are liable for any accident the vehicle could have."
