Senator Wilton Guerrero has asked the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) to explain why it did not stop a recent drug consignment that was coming in by boat to Peravia province. It appears that an operation headed by DNCD chief Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo, involving a helicopter and two Super Tucano planes, was suddenly aborted, allowing the boat to come to shore. According to Guerrero, the drugs were transferred by road to a farm that happens to be managed by an Army officer.

A few days later, a sergeant from naval intelligence, Erasmo Antonio Ferreira Arias was found murdered near the farm.

Guerrero said that Ferreira Arias was suspected of belonging to the group that allegedly had 300 kilos of cocaine. He asked the DNCD to reveal the name of the army officer who manages the farm and asked why they did not notify the local police or the prosecutor.

Armed Forces Minister Sigfrido Pared Perez told Listin Diario that they would investigate Guerrero's claim. He said that several days after Tropical Storm Isaac he was made aware that a drug shipment had entered and that an army sergeant had been murdered, supposedly because he had alerted the authorities.
