Following the murder of the US ambassador in Libya earlier this week, security has been stepped up around the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic on the orders of President Barack Obama. An additional 20 police officers have been posted in front of the embassy on Leopoldo Navarro Avenue and on the corner of Cesar Nicolas Penson up to Caonabo Street.
It is not known how long the measures will remain in effect.
