The Ministry of Public Works says it is teaming up with the National District municipality to embark on a large-scale program for filling potholes on roads throughout the city. The program also involves maintenance of public parks and spaces, and cleaning of garbage from gullies in the capital city. The announcement was made during a press conference called by Mayor Roberto Salcedo and Minister of Public Works Gonzalo Castillo at the Palacio Consistorial.
The agreement establishes that while the Ministry of Public Works will fill the potholes, the City Hall will construct or repair sidewalks.
Castillo said that similar meetings and strategic agreements will be reached with the mayors of Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo North and Santo Domingo West to coordinate works to be carried out jointly with these municipalities that together with the National District make up the Greater Santo Domingo conurbation.
The minister also announced plans to create a single-window platform to expedite projects.
