Leonel Carrasco, the deputy director of the Transport Reorganization Office (Opret), better known as the Metro Office, said on Wednesday 12 September that the first half of the second line of the Santo Domingo Metro would be in operation in December, as reported in El Nuevo Diario. He said that more than 100,000 commuters a day are using the first line and he hopes that more will use the second line. He said that construction brigades are working overtime to guarantee the completion in time. He commented, however, that an injection of resources to be made by the Medina administration is crucial for the completion of the project.
