Peravia Senator Wilton Guerrero (PLD) blasted the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) yesterday, Thursday 13 September. He said that most of the members of the agency who are posted in the municipality of Bani are dedicated to collecting tolls at drug selling points instead of combating drug trafficking, as reported in El Dia. He described the DNCD as a "latrine". He criticized the chief of Police for sending staff with criminal backgrounds and said that both the authorities and community leaders had asked them to be removed. The senator complained that violence is on the rise in the municipality.
He said, nonetheless, that he expects a good performance from General Juan Geronimo Brown Perez, new south central regional Police commander. General Brown, who was appointed on 23 August 2012, presented his strategic plan for security and safety yesterday, Thursday 13 September.
