The massive beach cleanup effort on Saturday 15 September produced over ten tons of refuse, and most of it was plastic. In several articles in the nation's newspapers, reporters noted that plastic in all shapes and forms was the major polluter of the beaches. Just one cleanup brigade made up of 200 Banco de Reservas employees pulled out a ton of refuse from the beaches of Santo Domingo in Manresa, Guibia, Avenida Espana, near the Juan Carlos Bridge and in Guayacanes. Ditch plastic, be responsible.
