Labor Minister Maritza Hernandez has asked employers to cease the practice of requiring job applicants to take HIV or AIDS tests without their consent, as well as to end discrimination against women who are often not employed due to the fact they are pregnant.
She made the comments during the launch of the Commission for Equality and Non-Discrimination at Work, which aims to promote equality in the workplace, and highlighted the fact that it was against the law to fire an employee who has tested positive for HIV or AIDS.
