Around 300 specialists from 16 countries have confirmed their attendance at the sixth Latin American Congress on Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and Bariatric Surgery to be held at the Hard Rock hotel in Punta Cana from September 27 to 30.
The main topics will be the problems and illnesses of the overweight and surgical techniques that are currently recommended, including the techniques in bariatric and metabolic surgery to improve hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, increased cholesterol and triglycerides.
According to the president of the Organizing Committee, Felix Manuel Escano the meeting is a major contribution to Dominican medicine because the overweight and obesity rate in this country is 57.7%.
